Akron, OHIO (May 24, 2024) — Meet Summit Artspace exhibiting artist Matt Miller to celebrate his current solo exhibition Happiness & The End of the World. The special event takes place Friday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m. beginning in the Betty & Howard Taylor Main Gallery on the first floor of Summit Artspace (140 E. Market) and ending at The Green Dragon Inn (115 E. Market). The event is free and open to the public.
Miller will introduce visitors to notable artworks in the exhibition, highlight his inspirations and concepts, and answer questions about his work and artistic practice. The group will then walk across the street with Matt to The Green Dragon Inn to view his recently completed indoor mural. Attendees are invited to mingle with the artist and enjoy a beverage at their own purchase.
“I always love a good opportunity to talk art and discuss my intent, inspiration, and influences with friends,” remarks Miller. “I hope you’ll join me for a fun night of conversation!”
Happiness & The End of the World seeks to balance the positives and negatives inherent in human experience. Paintings and multimedia works explore themes of life, death, love, loss, and growth. The vibrant pop and psychedelic aesthetic in Miller’s work is grounded by his fascination for nature, mythology, and folklore. Notable artworks on view include Happiness & The End of the World, the site-specific mural he created in the gallery, and This Party is a Riot, a mural created with students onsite at the Akron Art Museum’s for its recent Keith Haring exhibition.
