Nominations Now Open; Call for Artists
AKRON, Ohio (March 29, 2021) – Summit Artspace invites the public to attend its annual Arts Alive Awards and Auction on Thurs., June 17 at 7 p.m. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards ceremony and auction will be presented virtually. Nominations are now open and the deadline to nominate artists is May 1. Reservations for the virtual event open May 1.
The Arts Alive Awards were created in 2001 to recognize gifted artists, art educators and change making advocates and volunteers with an inspiring celebration of achievement. “These awards honor artists who make an indelible mark on our region’s cultural landscape,” notes Summit Artspace Executive Director Heather Meeker. “As we strive to recover and reconnect, artists are essential—and they need our support like never before.”
Summit Artspace is looking for people interested in attending, serving as sponsors and donating auction items for its virtual auction. The virtual awards ceremony is free to view with a suggested minimum donation of $10, and sponsorships start at $250. The sponsor deadline is May 10. Proceeds benefit the mission of Summit Artspace to connect artists to the community and to the resources they need to thrive professionally, creatively and financially.

Call for Artists – Auction
Donations of artwork from local artists are needed for the virtual Arts Alive Auction. In return, participating artists will be featured in the “In-Kind” exhibition scheduled at Summit Artspace gallery in fall 2021. “Through the kindness and generous donations from local artists to the Arts Alive Auction, we’re able to raise funds to support Summit Artspace’s mission and help the community,” notes artist and arts educator Daniel Coffield, who is organizing both the auction and the exhibition. “Through this effort, we continue to find new ways to network, promote, advocate and develop a stronger
community of local artists.” To donate artwork, click here. Deadline for submissions is April 23.
