High Arts Festival Final Day & Finale Celebration

Summit Artspace is the location for Visual Arts
for the High Arts Festival, Sept. 14-Oct. 6, 2018

a 23-day visual art, music, film and literary art festival

High Arts Festival, organized by the Akron Downtown Partnership, elevates the excellence of the arts community through peer-to-peer assessment, connecting new audiences to local art and individual artists, and increasing the awareness of the vibrant artistic hub that exists in downtown Akron. The public will continue to vote for favorites in each category via a mobile app or kiosks in participating venues.

12-9 p.m. Visual Arts experience open at Summit Artspace on East Market, 140 E. Market St., Akron, to view and vote for your favorite art. Artwalk at Summit Artspace, 5-9 p.m. Artist studios open. Pop-up shops. Voting ends at 8 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: Summit Artspace closes at 9 p.m.

2-8 p.m. at Blu Jazz, Chill Ice Cream, Musica, Uncorked and an outdoor stage behind Blu Jazz (weather permitting). Visit higharts.org for schedule of performances and locations. Vote on your favorites by downloading the app from higharts.org.

8 p.m. Following those performances, the voting will officially close at 8 p.m. Still need to get the app for voting? Click here.

8:15 p.m. The Outside Voices will perform on the Maiden Lane outdoor stage.

9:30 p.m. Winners announced. There will be brief remarks and then awards will be announced.

If you didn’t make it to the film festival weekend or just want to screen the films again or listen to the poetry and prose , be sure to download the FREE High Arts Festival app or visit www.higharts.org. 

You can watch and listen to all of the entries, but can only vote via the app or at a kiosk at Summit Artspace today, 12-8 p.m. Voting closes at 8 p.m.

28 poetry and prose submissions in the Historic Arts District on Sept. 29 during the literary art festival weekend. Dates and times here: https://higharts.org/literary

MUSIC TO Hear…

Up to 39 solo/due or group musical entries at the music festival weekend on Oct. 6 from 2-8 p.m. at MusicaUncorked Wine BarBlu Jazz+ and an outdoor stage. Dates and times here: https://higharts.org/music

Celebrate…

At the the finale reception and awards presentation on Oct. 6 from 8-10 p.m. This night a total of $32,000 will be distributed to winners that are decided by public and juried votes. The High Arts Festival app is available for free from the Google Play Store/iTunes Store. Through the app, you can register to vote, explore all of the entries and vote on your favorite art, music, film and literary work throughout the event.
